The Rivers house of assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state.
The legislature kicked off the process at the plenary on Thursday.
The lawmakers are accusing Fubara and his deputy of gross misconduct.
Major Jack, the leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, read the gross misconduct charges against Governor Fubara, signed by 26 members of the assembly. The Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, said the notice of gross misconduct will be served to Governor Fubara in the next 7 days.
