The Commissioner for Science and Technology in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, has resigned from his position and declared his loyalty to the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In a resignation letter made available on Saturday, Dr. Kofarmata said his decision was taken in good faith, stressing that he could no longer continue to serve in an administration he believes has deviated from the ideology that brought it to power.
“Salam! I wish to categorically state that I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner and Member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he wrote. “I took this decision in good faith, as I cannot continue to work under the government that derailed from the ideology that brought it to power.”
Despite his resignation, Dr. Kofarmata expressed gratitude to key stakeholders for the opportunity to serve.
He thanked the NNPP national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf; and the people who supported the administration’s journey.
“On this note, I extend my gratitude to the national leader of the NNPP, Engr. Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the entire people who stood with us and made the journey successful. Alhamdulillah!” he added.
The development has sparked fresh political reactions within Kano State, as observers await the government’s response to the commissioner’s resignation.
