The newly elected Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has reaffirmed its total and unshakeable loyalty to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party under the leadership of its National Chairman, Barrister Kabiru Turaki.
The statement was signed by Prince Dr. Christopher O. Odianarewo Dis., Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary-elect.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday, the Lagos State PDP Exco-elect declared its full alignment with the Turaki-led NWC, describing it as the only legitimate national leadership of the party and pledging solidarity as the PDP embarks on a new phase of discipline, unity and strategic rebuilding.
The Exco-elect said it recognises the current NWC as the product of a credible and constitutionally conducted national convention, adding that the national leadership remains firmly committed to restoring the founding ideals and electoral strength of the party.
Addressing reports suggesting that the 2025 Ibadan National Elective Convention had been nullified by a court, the Lagos PDP dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading.
According to the statement, the Ibadan convention was held in strict compliance with the PDP Constitution and remains a historic process that produced the current national leadership. The party described reports of any court nullification as propaganda aimed at creating confusion and instability within the party.
The Exco-elect further expressed confidence that the mandate freely given by the 2,745 accredited delegates who participated in the Ibadan convention could not be overturned through what it described as “back-door litigation,” assuring members that the party’s legal team remains vigilant.
Looking ahead, the Lagos State PDP Exco-elect said it is fully committed to implementing the “Turaki Roadmap,” which prioritises grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy and the strengthening of the PDP as a robust opposition party. It added that efforts are ongoing to reconcile all aggrieved interests within the state to present a united and formidable front in future elections.
“The mandate we hold is sacred, and our alignment with the National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, is non-negotiable,” the statement said. “We will not be distracted by those who seek to benefit from internal discord.”
The party called on PDP members in Lagos State and across the country to remain steadfast, stressing that the PDP is bigger than any individual and that, under the current NWC, the party is being repositioned in the interest of the people.
