The Ogun State Government has commended Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) for its pivotal role in driving industrial and economic development in the state through sustained investments.
Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the commendation during the opening ceremony of the 15th Gateway International Trade Fair held in Abeokuta. Represented by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Emmanuel Adebola Sofela, the governor described Dangote Group as “a truly exemplary strategic partner in our collective pursuit of industrial advancement and sustainable economic development.”
He noted that over the years, the Group’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and nation-building has strengthened Nigeria’s industrial backbone and significantly boosted the prosperity and competitiveness of Ogun State.
“Through visionary investments, job creation and consistent support for infrastructure and community development, the Dangote Group has demonstrated what it means to be a responsible corporate citizen and a catalyst for broad-based growth,” he said.
According to the governor, Dangote’s partnership with Ogun State has created opportunities for residents, revitalised local industries and reinforced the state’s reputation as a prime destination for investment.
“Dangote’s legacy in Ogun State stands as a model of how meaningful collaboration between government and the private sector can deliver transformative results. The Group is no longer just an investor but a trusted ally whose impact is visible in our economy, our communities and the future we are building,” he added.
Ibese, in the Yewa axis of Ogun State, hosts Dangote Cement Plc’s 12 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) cement plant, while another 6 million mtpa cement facility is currently under construction in Itori, also within the state.
In his remarks, the President of the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), Lion Niyi Oshiyemi, also praised Dangote Group for its consistent support and partnership with the Chamber in promoting private sector-driven economic growth.
“Today is not just the commencement of another trade fair but a celebration of collaboration, innovation and shared prosperity. For the past 15 years, the Trade Fair has served as a vital platform where ideas meet opportunities, businesses connect with markets and partnerships are formed to drive sustainable economic growth,” Oshiyemi said.
He emphasised that in an era marked by rapid technological advancement, global competitiveness and evolving consumer demands, businesses can no longer thrive in isolation.
“The future belongs to those who build strong partnerships,” he stated.
Oshiyemi added that OGUNCCIMA has continued to strengthen Ogun State’s position as a leading commercial and industrial hub in Nigeria and West Africa by encouraging investments, fostering trade linkages and promoting technology transfer.
He noted that the Chamber supports policies and initiatives that enhance the ease of doing business in the state.
