President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday commissioned the Lagos Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) Office and Data Centre located in Alausa, Ikeja, in a move aimed at transforming land administration and geospatial data management in Lagos State.
The President was represented at the event by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The newly inaugurated facility is expected to revolutionise geospatial data management in the state, enhance transparency in land transactions, and support sustainable urban planning across Lagos.
Officials said the project would further strengthen Lagos State’s position as a leading hub for innovation and smart city development in Nigeria.
A major feature of the facility is its state-of-the-art data centre, named “ABAT-3,” which serves as the digital backbone of the state’s land administration system.
The data centre is designed to host, process, and safeguard Lagos State’s vast portfolio of digitised land assets, ensuring improved efficiency, security, and accessibility in land-related services.
The commissioning of the LAGIS office underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to leveraging technology to modernise governance, improve service delivery, and build a more resilient urban future.
