The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested three individuals for allegedly dumping refuse indiscriminately on the road median along the Igando axis of Lagos State.
The arrests were made during a late-night enforcement and monitoring operation carried out by the LAWMA Project WISE Team in the West Region.
The suspects, identified as Islamiya Peju Ola, Matin Solomon, and Rukayat Oladipo, were reportedly caught dumping refuse on the Igando road median despite repeated public warnings against such environmental violations.
LAWMA said the offenders engaged in practices that defaced the environment and posed risks to public health and safety.
According to the agency, the suspects were handed over to KAI officers at the Oshodi Task Force Office at about 8:45 p.m. for prosecution in accordance with environmental laws.
The agency reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on illegal waste disposal, urging residents, traders, and business owners to make use of approved waste disposal channels and avoid acts capable of degrading the environment.
LAWMA also stressed that maintaining a cleaner Lagos remains a collective responsibility and warned that compliance with environmental regulations is mandatory.
