Army Troops Dismantle Illegal Bunkering Site, Arrest Six Suspects in Lagos
Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected illegal oil bunkering site in the Orile General Area of Lagos State, arresting six suspected oil bunkerers during an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, led by the Commanding Officer of the battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected economic saboteurs in the area.
During the raid, troops arrested six suspects and recovered four trucks, one pumping machine, as well as assorted pipes and drums allegedly used for illegal bunkering operations.
The suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, urged them to sustain the offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to combating oil theft and protecting critical national assets.
