Two Newborn Babies Rescued After Being Fed Hard Drugs at Lagos Shanty
A nine-day-old baby has been rescued after allegedly being fed “colos” (Colorado), a hard drug, by her 26-year-old mother at the Agboju shanties in Lagos.
The baby was rescued during an operation alongside another newborn who was just one day old. Both babies were reportedly delivered on a dumpsite and were allegedly being fed the substance instead of breast milk.
Their mothers were arrested alongside other persons struggling with drug addiction during the operation.
The situation became even more disturbing when the mothers, during the recording of the incident, reportedly insisted on being taken back to their shanties and continued asking for the substance.
The incident has left those involved in the operation deeply distressed, with the images of the two vulnerable babies proving difficult to forget.
The two newborns, who should have been protected, fed and cared for, were instead exposed to drugs and the harsh conditions of life on a dumpsite.
