The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, has defended the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, saying Nigeria is safer today than it was in 2023.
Musa also said the N5.41 trillion allocated to defence in the 2026 budget would be spent on military equipment and operations, stressing the high cost of modern warfare.
Speaking during an interview with Channelstv, the minister said a Tomahawk missile cost about $3.2 million, while a precision drone bomb could cost at least $100,000.
“Imagine when you fire it, if it hits somebody, or doesn’t hit something, N140 million is gone,” he said.
Musa explained that the size of Nigeria’s forests and difficult terrain made military operations challenging, particularly in areas such as Sambisa Forest.
