LAGOS – Former Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Joe Igbokwe, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Anselm Udoka, a dedicated member of Ndigbo in APC Lagos and a key figure in the party’s leadership.
In a heartfelt tribute, Igbokwe described Udoka, fondly called Orobo and Ezechina Awalu Oji, as a loyal, consistent, and hardworking member of the group. He noted that Udoka played a significant role as a Board of Trustees (BOT) member, contributing actively to the progress of Ndigbo in APC Lagos.
“He worked so hard as a BOT member and stood with the group through thick and thin. He made our meetings lively, bringing laughter with his actions and deeds. He was a true party man and a committed progressive,” Igbokwe wrote.
Igbokwe also highlighted Udoka’s close relationship with former Osun State Governor and former Minister of the Federal Republic, Rauf Aregbesola, who he described as a mentor and father figure to the late politician.
“HE Rauf Aregbesola loved him with passion and zeal. Udoka stood with us even in days of trouble, and I loved him so much for this,” he added.
Beyond his political engagements, Udoka was celebrated for his energy, humor, and dedication to the cause of progressive politics in Lagos. “Orobo was everybody’s man. He brought laughter and joy to our group, sometimes making jokes that kept us all entertained,” Igbokwe noted.
Expressing the collective grief of Ndigbo in APC Lagos, Igbokwe acknowledged Udoka’s immense contributions to political discussions at both state and national levels. “We will miss his robust presence, his troubles, his noise at meetings, and his unwavering commitment to our cause,” he said.
He also extended gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support in ensuring Udoka receives a befitting burial. “Ndigbo in APC Lagos appreciate His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for standing with the family. We do not take your support and magnanimity for granted. Thank you, Mr. Governor,” Igbokwe stated.
Concluding his tribute, he prayed for Udoka’s family, friends, and associates, wishing the deceased eternal rest.
“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen. An endless Alliluia,” Igbokwe wrote.
