A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered that a 22-year- old applicant, Samson Kingsley, should be given 12 strokes of the cane for stealing ceiling fans worth N160,000.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who gave order, warned Kingsley to desist from committing crimes.

The convict who resides in Kawo in Kaduna, pleaded guilty to trespass and theft.

He begged the court to temper justice with mercy stating that his behaviour influenced by peer pressure.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the case was reported at Gabaswa Police Station Kaduna by Rabiu Abubakar, of same address with the convict on April 19.

Leo said that the convict stole ceiling fans worth N160,000 belonging to the complainant which he kept in his house.

The prosecutor said the stolen items were recovered from the convict during police investigation.

Leo said the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
