INEC Extends Ward-Level Voter Registration in FCT by Four Days

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a four-day extension of the ongoing ward-level Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The decision was made during the Commission’s Third Quarterly Meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, where ongoing electoral activities, including the CVR exercise, were reviewed.

With the extension, the exercise—initially scheduled to end today, Wednesday, 8th October 2025—will now continue until Sunday, 12th October 2025.

As of 7th October 2025, INEC recorded a total of 55,346 new voter registrations in the FCT, comprising 38,528 online pre-registrations and 16,818 completed physical registrations.

The Commission described this turnout as a reflection of increasing civic participation and the success of taking the exercise closer to residents at the grassroots level.

INEC reiterated that the online pre-registration option remains suspended in the FCT to allow pre-registered voters to complete their registration in person, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Commission urged all eligible citizens yet to register to take advantage of the extension. It also encouraged registered voters who wish to transfer their registration to, or within, the FCT to do so within this period. However, INEC warned that multiple registration remains an offence punishable under the law.

Details of all registration centres are available on the Commission’s website and official social media platforms.

INEC expressed appreciation to FCT residents, field officials, and stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring a smooth and inclusive registration exercise.
