The House of Representatives has announced plans to investigate the management of over $4.6 billion in grants received by Nigeria from the Global Fund and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) between 2021 and 2025.

The funds, amounting to more than $1.8 billion from the Global Fund and $2.8 billion from USAID, were designated for combating HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as for strengthening Nigeria’s resilient and sustainable health systems.

Lawmakers say the probe aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective utilization of the grants to improve public health outcomes across the country.

Mark condoles with Moro over loss of son

The Chairman of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Sen. David Mark, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of Mr Peter Moro, son of the Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro, who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident.

The accident happened on Saturday around the Mararaba area, in Nasarawa State, near Abuja .
The senate minority leader had last week lost his grandson to a brief illness.

This is contained in a condolence message as contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh on Tuesday in Kano.
Mark said, “I received the heartbreaking news with great shock and profound sadness.

“This devastating incident is a painful reminder of the fragility of life, and our hearts go out to you (Moro ) and the entire family at this most difficult time.”

According to Mark, the loss of a child is one of life’s heaviest blows, adding,” I can only imagine the depth of grief that this tragedy has brought upon the family.
“I stand in solidarity with you as you mourn your beloved son.

” I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will grant you and family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“I also pray for the peaceful repose of Peter’s soul and ask that the Almighty comforts the bereaved family, offering you strength, hope, and consolation in this dark hour.
“May the departed rest in perfect peace.”
