2027: APC Chairman Projects Over One Million Votes for Tinubu in Plateau

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence in its chances in Plateau State ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, projecting more than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Yilwatda made the assertion while addressing an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency in Plateau State. He said the political landscape of the state had witnessed a significant shift since the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the APC has consolidated its position in Plateau, attracting many former opponents into its fold, including commissioners, local government chairmen and other key appointees serving under Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration.

Describing PKK as a traditional stronghold of the APC, Yilwatda recalled that the party recorded major victories in the constituency during the 2023 elections, winning two of the three local governments in the presidential poll, as well as seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and the Plateau State House of Assembly.

“Come 2027, I can assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pull some of his highest votes here, both in numbers and in percentage. There is no ward, no polling unit in PKK that we will not win. Politics is a game of numbers, and our target is over one million votes,” he said.

The APC chairman attributed the party’s growing strength to unity at both the state and federal levels, noting that the APC currently controls the governorship, the national chairmanship, most National Assembly and state Assembly seats, as well as the majority of local government positions in Plateau State.

He also announced a change in strategy, stating that the party would no longer engage in public criticism of the governor, but would instead adopt direct engagement aimed at supporting effective governance.

At the national level, Yilwatda highlighted the APC’s dominance, citing its control of over 70 seats in the Senate, nearly 300 members in the House of Representatives and 29 governorships.

He added that the party was pursuing internal reforms, including digital membership registration and plans to construct a new national secretariat in Abuja.
