The Advocates for Ogun Development and Innovations has called on Mr. Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, to enter the gubernatorial race in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Majeed Adelakun, the group described Edun as exceptionally qualified to lead the state at a critical moment in its development journey.
“We urge Mr. Edun to respond to the call of history by declaring his intention to contest in the upcoming Ogun State governorship election,” the statement read.
Highlighting Edun’s four-decade career in finance, banking, and economic development, the group noted that his track record reflects both technical expertise and visionary leadership.
“From his tenure as Executive Director at Investment Banking & Trust Company (IBTC), to founding Denham Management Limited, serving as a two-term Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, and now as Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Edun has consistently delivered tangible results,” the group said.
They praised Edun’s legacy of community empowerment, sustainable economic initiatives, and inclusive development, describing him as a leader whose values align with the aspirations of Ogun people.
The group further emphasized Edun’s strong ties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that his trusted relationship with the presidency places him in a strategic position to align Ogun’s development goals with national priorities.
“Under his leadership, Ogun State can expect increased federal support, greater investment inflows, and accelerated growth,” they added.
“The time has come for tested and trusted leadership. The time has come for Ogun State to rise.”
