The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of employing intimidation and coercion to force PDP governors, senators, and lawmakers at both national and state levels to defect.
In a statement jointly signed by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi (Chairman) and Sir Edward Percy Masha (Secretary), the forum described the APC’s conduct as “undemocratic, desperate, and systematic,” warning that such actions threaten Nigeria’s democratic foundation.
According to the statement, the forum held a crucial meeting on Monday, October 14, 2025, at the PDP FCT Secretariat, Abuja, under the chairmanship of Sir Edward Percy Masha. The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, and deliberated on issues affecting party unity and the broader political landscape.
After extensive discussions, the forum issued key resolutions, including a strong condemnation of the APC’s alleged harassment and coercion of PDP leaders.
The forum described such moves as “an assault on democracy and a dangerous step toward establishing a one-party state,” urging Nigerians to resist any attempt to stifle political plurality.
The forum also expressed concern over internal sabotage, accusing some party members of working with external interests to destabilize the PDP ahead of the convention.
It specifically condemned the actions of Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo State) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia State), who reportedly sought a court injunction to halt the convention.
Describing their actions as “a betrayal of the party’s unity and collective resolve,” the forum announced their suspension and appointed Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the Edo State PDP, as the new Chairman of the PDP State Chairmen Forum.
