Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented permanent and pensionable appointment letters to 400 newly recruited Mathematics teachers for secondary schools across the state.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
Governor Yusuf said the recruitment was a deliberate response to long-standing subject gaps that have undermined students’ performance and future career prospects. He described Mathematics as the backbone of Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation, stressing that Kano must build a solid foundation to remain competitive in a knowledge-driven world.
He expressed confidence that the newly appointed teachers would raise teaching standards, improve examination results, and create stronger pathways for students pursuing STEM-related fields.
The Governor also commended the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment process.
Yusuf urged the teachers to demonstrate passion, dedication and professionalism in discharging their duties, emphasizing the need for them to justify the trust reposed in them.
