The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expelled its Kano State chairman, Hashim Suleman Dungurawa, with effect from December 30, 2025, over alleged acts of indiscipline and poor leadership.
According to the party, Dungurawa was removed for inciting division within the NNPP, showing disrespect to party members and the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and engaging in actions that allegedly caused setbacks for the party in the State.
The expulsion comes amid persistent speculation over the possible defection of Governor Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a development that has continued to fuel internal tension within the NNPP in Kano.
Confirming the development, the NNPP chairman of Gargari Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Shuaibu Hassan, told BBC Hausa that the party’s decision followed due consultations and was aimed at restoring unity and discipline within its ranks.
