Troops Neutralise Over 18 Terrorists in Coordinated Dawn Operations in Borno

Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded major operational successes following coordinated night and dawn surprise attacks on terrorist enclaves in Borno State.

The update was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI.

In a well-executed dawn operation on January 28, 2026, troops stormed the terrorist hideout at Bula Dalo, neutralising over 12 terrorists and forcing the remaining fighters to flee in disarray. The operation led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one Rocket-Propelled Grenade launcher, and one Multiple Grenade Launcher.

In a separate, deliberate clearance operation at the Garno terrorist camp, troops of Sector 1 further degraded terrorist capabilities by neutralising six terrorists, destroying their life-support structures, and recovering a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition.
Meanwhile, in a related development, troops of Sector 2 OPHK at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP terrorists in the early hours of January 29, 2025.

The assault was supported by multiple armed drones. Although the terrorists temporarily breached a section of the defensive position, gallant troops swiftly repelled the attack, held their ground, and restored full control of the location with timely reinforcements from neighbouring units.
Sadly, some brave troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force paid the supreme price while defending the position. An excavator and a lowbed were also damaged during the armed drone attack.
Exploitation of the area is ongoing as troops continue operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure lasting security in the region.
