The Lagos State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke, Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), who passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, following a brief illness during the ongoing 114th Session of the International Labour Convention in Geneva, Switzerland.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the state government, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, described Adeleke’s death as a painful and irreparable loss to the labour movement and the entire state workforce.

Agoro extended the government’s heartfelt condolences to the late labour leader’s family, colleagues, members of the labour centres, and workers across Lagos State, noting that his passing came as a shock to many.

According to the Head of Service, Comrade Adeleke was part of the Lagos State delegation attending the 114th International Labour Convention when he reportedly fell ill and subsequently died.

He described the deceased as a dedicated and committed unionist who devoted his career to advancing the welfare, rights, and interests of workers.

“His contributions to the labour movement and his unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare will remain a lasting legacy,” Agoro said.

The Head of Service also disclosed that arrangements are currently being made to repatriate Adeleke’s remains to Nigeria for burial.

The Lagos State Government prayed for the repose of his soul and urged his family, colleagues, and loved ones to find strength and comfort during this difficult period.

It also expressed hope that his legacy of selfless service and dedication to the advancement of workers’ welfare would continue to inspire future generations.
