ICPC: Gbajabiamila Honoured Invitation, Not Arrested Over PFIPC Probe
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, visited its headquarters in Abuja to make a statement in connection with the ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
In a statement issued by its media team, the Commission said Gbajabiamila’s appearance was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive that the ICPC investigate the circumstances surrounding the PFIPC, an entity the Presidency has disowned as fraudulent.
According to the Commission, the purported council allegedly operated from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja for about two years under the leadership of Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who reportedly presented himself as the Director-General of the organisation.
The ICPC clarified that the Chief of Staff’s visit followed an invitation by its investigators as part of efforts to establish all relevant facts surrounding the matter.
The Commission also dismissed reports suggesting that Gbajabiamila was arrested, stressing that he voluntarily honoured the invitation and fully cooperated with investigators.
