A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA), Dr. Oluwole Olumayokun Oluyede, has called for unity and cooperation among political stakeholders in Ekiti State, saying the state’s development should take precedence over partisan differences.
Oluyede made the call in a congratulatory message to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji published on the advertorial page of The Punch on Friday, as the governor was inaugurated for a second term in office.
The PDP chieftain attended the inauguration ceremony, where he exchanged greetings with other dignitaries and interacted with journalists covering the event.
In his congratulatory message, Oluyede described the inauguration as an opportunity to consolidate development efforts, strengthen governance and improve the welfare of the people.
He said political differences should not prevent leaders and other stakeholders from working together to build a peaceful, prosperous and united Ekiti State.
“Beyond politics, our shared love for Ekiti must unite us,” Oluyede said in his congratulatory message.
Speaking with journalists at the event, Oluyede emphasised the importance of constructive engagement among political leaders, irrespective of their party affiliations, in advancing the collective interests of the state.
He noted that although political actors might have different perspectives on governance, the responsibility of promoting development and improving the living conditions of the people should remain a common priority.
According to him, sustainable development requires cooperation, mutual respect and a shared commitment to policies and programmes that benefit the people.
Oluyede expressed the hope that Oyebanji’s second term would bring greater economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, better healthcare delivery and enhanced living conditions for residents across the state’s 16 local government areas.
He also stressed the need for inclusive governance, urging political leaders and other stakeholders to support initiatives that would promote economic growth, create employment opportunities and strengthen development across the state.
The OPARHA convener maintained that Ekiti’s future should not be constrained by political divisions, but advanced through dialogue, responsible leadership and a collective commitment to the public good.
He congratulated Oyebanji on his inauguration and wished him a successful second term, expressing hope that the administration would continue to pursue programmes that advance the interests of the people.
Oluyede reiterated that political differences should not overshadow the shared aspirations of Ekiti residents for peace, progress and prosperity.
