The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced that the national grid has returned to normal operation following multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network on Monday, October 19, 2026.
NISO disclosed this in a statement signed by its management on Monday, stating that the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m.

According to the operator, it worked with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to implement corrective measures to stabilise the power system and restore normal operations.

It said restoration efforts had been successfully completed.
NISO clarified that the incident affected only a section of the grid, contrary to unverified reports circulating in the media.

The operator urged the public to disregard misleading information and rely on its official communication channels for accurate and verified updates on the status of the national grid.
