The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted 59-year-old alleged drug baron, in his hideout in Ojo area of Lagos for over N1.4billion worth of seized illicit drugs. The NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa said this during a press briefing on Monday in Abuja. Marwa said that the suspected drug dealer ‘s arrest came after 17 years of hiding to ship illicit drugs worth billions of naira across the world. Former Senator Olusola Adeyeye has disclosed an incident involving ex-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who allegedly confided in him about being pressured by politicians to provide funds through extortion. The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Edo has reserved judgment in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and it’s governorship candidate, Mr Asue Ighodalo challenging the Sept. 21, 2024 governorship election in the state. The Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three-member tribunal reserved the matter for judgment on Monday after counsel in the matter adopted their final written addresses.According to Justice Kpochi, a date for judgment would be communicated to parties by the Secretary of the trubunal. Justice Yetunde Rukayat Pinheiro of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, has fixed March 7 for the hearing of all pending applications in the lawsuit filed by former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa. Obasa dragged the Lagos State Government and the Assembly to court, challenging what he described as his unlawful removal from office. The lawsuit, filed on February 14, 2025, also names the current Speaker, Lasbat Mojisola Meranda, as a defendant.
