Abdulsamad Jamiu, a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, was killed by soldiers of the guards brigade quick response in Dei-Dei, Abuja. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Shagari Estate. The Kogi State Government has confirmed the rescue of 15 pupils abducted from an unregistered orphanage and school facility in Zariagi. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja.According to Fanwo, security operatives are still working to secure the release of the remaining victims, including the wife of the school proprietor. The Federal Government has introduced a National Textbook Ranking System for Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen quality assurance and standardisation in the education sector.
